About the marketing team

Grand Prairie is one of the few cities whom have their own in-house marketing team rather than outsourcing a third party.  The marketing team was established in 2006 and is composed of two men, Kelly Eddlemon and Brandon Huether. Brandon specializes in graphic design, print and social media while Kelly specializes in more of the event marketing and marketing plan design.


Job Description

Intern duties consisted of utilizing Adobe Photoshop, sitting in on meetings with other companies in order to gain sponsorships, assist in creating a marketing plan to inform Grand Prairie citizens that we were NRPA gold medal finalists, assist in creating a marketing plan for North Texas Giving Day, social media, and other duties day to day.

In order to intern in Grand Prairie you must:
  • Be a college student or graduated
  • Live within driving distance of the city
  • Have knowledge and or major in RPTS or Marketing
The benefits of this internship immense. This environment that solidified the fact that tourism and recreation are interdependent on marketing. Any recreation department, tourist destination, or community event is reliant on marketing to either get the community involved or tourists interested. From this internship I have gained more knowledge about brainstorming skills and marketing knowledge that I can carry into any job opportunity in the future.


One of my most proud achievements is that I have become incredibly more efficient and confident in using an Adobe program, especially Adobe Illustrator. Others are that I have learned better social and office communication skills as well at become more confident in public speaking.
